In 2008, film-maker Michka Saäl and jazz musician Ricky Ford brought together 75 American jazz musicians living in France, for a historic photograph on the steps of Montmartre in Paris. The photo was a 50th anniversary homage to one of the most iconic photos in the history of jazz: Art Kane’s *Harlem 1958*.

10 years in the making and featuring footage of the event, interviews with six diverse musicians as well as footage of concerts and performances, the film is a portrait of artistic exile, a fusion of genres and freedom as the bottom line for art.
